Sexual Harassment Support
|
Support and information for anyone who has experienced sexual harassment.
We currently have two support groups:
The Sexual Harassment Support Forum
Stalking Survivors (stalking support group)
The Sexual Harassment Support Forum
The Sexual Harassment Support Forum (SHSF) is an online, peer-to-peer support group and
discussion board for people who have been sexually harassed or stalked in any kind of setting. The
forum strives to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment for support and understanding in
discussions on the problem of sexual harassment, the surrounding dynamics, and the common effects.
The forum features:
- Mutual support for sexual harassment in any type of setting. (You do
not have to "prove" your situation with us.)
- Methods and exercises to deal with stress and traumatic events
- Resource Center with an archive containing links, articles and
reports, videos, and radio shows; a legal area with summations of
landmark sexual harassment cases, and links to legal resources
- Members receive the quarterly SHS Bulletin which contains
announcements about SHS activities, news, stories, and updates
from the survey
Sexual Harassment and Stalking Support Groups
Who can join: SHSF is for anyone who has experienced sexual harassment and our membership is
made up of both males and females. Friends and family of victims are also welcome as long as the
intent is to learn and offer support.
Please note: there is little, if any, discussion on stalking at the SHSF. If you are being stalked, the
Stalking Support group is recommended. (See Stalking Survivors information below)
Security: SHSF is a protected site, and while some areas are open for guests to read, the support
groups are closed and protected from non-members. (We had to close the Open Discussion because
of a constant flood of spam.) You must formally join the forum before you can view and access the
protected areas.
Also, search engines like Google and Yahoo are forbidden to crawl all areas of the site except the
Resource Center, so you do not have to worry about anyone using a search site to find you or your posts.
To join:
- To go to the forum, click here or on the link below the phoenix icon above.
- To join, when you reach the forum click "Register" at the top and follow the instructions. Please
register under a unique username--not your real name, not a common nickname that you
use, and not a username you have used in other forums. (Cyberstalking is a REAL problem--
protect yourself on the Internet!) Also, you will be asked to provide a little bit of information about
yourself and why you wish to join the forum. This is for security purposes ONLY and the
information you provide will be kept confidential.
- Once you have registered, you will receive an email so that you can validate your new account.
You will have to click a link in the email to complete the validation.
- Once your registration has been validated, you will need to wait for the administrator to complete
the registration. (Within 24 hours.)
- Once the administrator has approved your new account, you will receive a confirmation email
and the forum guidelines. From then on, you will be able to access the protected areas of the
forum, your mailbox, and your control panel.
Technical problems: If you are having any difficulties registering or logging into the forum, contact the
forum administration at shsf@sexualharassmentsupport.org, or use the contact us form.
Stalking Survivors
Stalking Survivors is a online support and discussion forum for people who
have been stalked or cyberstalked. The group strives to provide a safe,
non-judgemental environment for support and understanding in
discussions on the problem of stalking, the surrounding dynamics, and the
common effects.
(Please note: This group is not a vigilante or cause stalking support group,
or for discussions on mind control, electronic harassment, or government
conspiracies. )
The forum features:
- Mutual support for stalking in any type of setting (you do not have to "prove" your situation with
us);
- Readings, methods and exercises to deal with stress and traumatic events;
- Resource Center with an archive containing links, articles, and reports on stalking and related
topics;
- Members receive the quarterly SHS Bulletin which contains announcements about SHS
activities, news, stories, and updates from the survey.
Who can join: The stalking support group is for anyone who has been stalked or cyberstalked, and we
have both male and female members. Friends and family of victims are also welcome as long as the
intent is to learn and offer support.
Security: More and more, stalkers are using the Internet to track their targets. Because of this, Stalking
Survivors is completely secure, and a hidden site. You cannot even view the log-in area without an
invitation. Access to the group is password protected. Only stalking group members may access the
group. Stalking group member's names DO NOT appear in the members list at the forum (where the
group is housed.)
Also, membership is screened. Before you can access the group, you must contact us, and be willing to
provide a little personal information about yourself and why you want to join the group. (This is for
security purposes ONLY, and all information will be kept confidential.)
In addition, search engines such as Google and Yahoo cannot access any portion of the forum, so you
do not have to worry about anyone using a search site to find you.
How to join Stalking Survivors: Use the request form to request membership to the group. Once your
request has been approved, you will receive an invitation to join, and further instructions on how to
complete your registration and access the group.
