Sexual harassment in education:  what protections for students by the Department of Education.

Changes to Title IX in March of 2005 strengthen the protections against retaliation against a student who
complains of sexual harassment, and strengthens protections of confidentiality of a complainant's
identity.    A student's identity must be kept confidential accept where necessary for investigative
purposes.  Academic institutions are now much more liable in these situations.  These changes are not
necessarily reflected in the document below.  However, they are now a part of the law.
